Quipex completes office refurb at Whilteladies House

The client

We were approached by the contracts manager of an office fit-out/refurbishment company, with whom we have been working in close partnership for over 25 years. He invited Quipex to make a site visit to an office building in the centre of Bristol, so that we could help with the electrical element of a quotation.

The brief

The contract included the refurbishment and fit out of two floors of the building which had previously been used by another company who had since vacated the building. The new tenants, a film editing company, required that the premises be made into suitable studio offices with high density data and communications networks.  Noise transfer was also an issue which we would need to overcome.

The challenge

We were given a short timescale for the project as the client, who had won a contract to provide its services to education for the start of the school year, needed to be able to start work in their new studios as soon as possible. The building owners were also keen to have their premises occupied as soon as possible. From commencement of the project, we were given a six-week slot to complete a total strip out and installation of a 10,000ft² project.

We were also advised that other areas of the building were occupied by tenants who were particular about noise and cleanliness. 

Doing the job

Prior to starting, we assessed the property to see if anything could be retained from the existing office set up and what would meet the new design for a film editing company.  

Working with the main contractor to overcome the logistic challenges and deadline, we came up with an organisational plan to ensure we would complete the project in time and according to specification.

Our engineers made quick work of the strip out to allow the installation to begin and, by the second week, the installation of power, lighting, air conditioning, data and wiring had begun in earnest. Our team worked brilliantly alongside other contractors - namely, partitioners, aircon engineers, data engineers, ceiling fixers and decorators - to get the job done.

The Result

Despite being very busy on other projects at the same time, our Quipex team were able to deliver a quality certified installation on time and to the customer’s complete satisfaction (which is, as you will soon discover, constitutional with Quipex).
